Have You Started on Your Goals for the New Year?

The holidays are over and it’s the beginning of a new year. Now it’s time to settle in and get back into the swing of things. This is where I take the opportunity to talk about looking at your goals for 2017.

Did you meet your goals for 2016? Do you need to make adjustments for 2017? Well, now is the time to do so. Ordinarily, I’d go on and on about the necessity of looking at your business plan, going over your marketing strategy to make sure it serves your needs, and make the appropriate adjustments.

But, not this time.

I have a good friend, Arun Chandran, who sent out an email to his peeps and decided he said it all. It’s more succinct and less boring than what I would have said so I’ve decided to pass it on.

8 “Must Haves” for 2017

If you wish to see success in 2017… I’ve listed 8 “Must Haves” below. I’m writing these off the cuff… and while I’m not some self-help guru, these pointers below worked for me. I can only tell you what I know… and it’s really uncomplicated stuff.

1. Have A Vision

This is the most important thing. You must know why you’re doing what you do. People lose weight to gain confidence and look good… not because they’re worried about obesity statistics.

Men build muscle so that women look at them in a whole new way… and not because they want to prevent muscular atrophy.
You want to make money online… not for the money… but to be able to live life the way you want to. The promise MUST be clear or you’ll never pay the price. Make sure you have a crystal clear vision of what you truly want.

2. Have A Plan

Write down all the tasks you need to do to get to where you need to go. A plan is like a road map. Don’t wing it.

3. Have At It

Do the work. Even if you do a little daily… make sure you do the work. More importantly, do what matters. Don’t be the kind of person who rearranges deck chairs when the ship is sinking. Focus on being productive instead of busy.

4. Have Fun

This is a big one. Don’t hate what you do. So often I see marketers agonizing and miserable with the amount of work they need to do. While there may be times when things can be exasperating and stressful… these should be exceptions and not the norm.

If you hate writing content, you hate selling stuff, you hate networking… and you’re just trying to make money online for the sake of quitting your day job… which you also hate… What then is the point?

Enjoy what you do… and if you can’t, then find something else to do.

5. Have A Training Program

I can’t emphasize this enough. Exercise daily. The harder your training and the fitter you are… the easier it’s going to be for you to spend hours on the computer without getting tired.

Writing for hours at a time requires stamina and strength. Exercise will give you both. If you don’t get moving today, tomorrow you might be in a situation where you can barely move.

6. Have Patience

It takes time. Be consistent. Drops make an ocean. Little efforts over time will snowball and will change your life beyond your wildest dreams.

7. Have Focus

Stay focused on your work and your goals.

8. Have Faith!

You must believe in yourself. If you follow the previous 7 tips, you can rest assured that success is on its way. It has to be. So, don’t fret. You’ll get there.

What’s important to understand is these “must haves” apply to any year so keep them in mind.
